Under proportional hazards, the efficient score
statistic is a weighted average of differences in hazards
(proportions)
•Weights
are roughly proportional to the size of the risk sets at each failure
time
–Intuitively reasonable if the treatment effect is constant
over time
–Under time-varying treatment effects, we might want
to weight more heavily the times with a difference in hazards
